| Digging deep into Monte
Carlo History, our MMG Staff came across this little
vintage beauty. Although this isn’t the “American
made Chevrolet Monte Carlo,” we’ve all come
to know and love. It is however their Great Grandfather.
This was the Monte Carlo of the 50’s. It had a
sleek eye catching feature that bares a similar resemblance
to the late 70’s & early 80’s body style.
This dinosaur died out a long time ago but was not forgotten.
This gem goes down in our Monte Carlo History.
Following Sydney Allard's success in the 1952 Monte
Carlo rally a new Allard saloon model soon appeared,
the P2 Monte Carlo. The P2 was built on the same
112" wheelbase as the K3 Roadster, which shared
the same mechanical items, including the same U.S.
V8 engine options (i.e. Cadillac, Lincoln or Chrysler
units). The P2 had a blend of M2X and K3 styling
influences, which included the M2X "A" type
grille. The two-door body featured a large bonnet
assembly, which incorporated the front wings and
hydraulic support struts. The P2 Monte Carlo was
a heavy car and failed to capture the imagination
of Allard buyers, only 11 were sold before production
ended in 1955.
